Simplewall is a simple solution for managing block lists as well as filtering network activity and prohibiting any application or service from accessing the internet. The standard operating mode of the program is to allow only whitelisted processes to connect to the Internet. This means, that it will block any process from connecting to the Internet if you do not enter it manually in the filter menu.
The other two options you have are switching to blacklist mode, which allows all processes to connect to the Internet except the blacklist, and blocks all traffic.
After adding an app, you can click on the appropriate checkbox by adding it to the relevant block or whitelist. Once you are done adding apps, simply click on the Enable Filtering button to get started. It is recommended to disable or stop Windows Firewall if this program is going to run, SimpleWall comes with an option to disable it automatically in windows.
Once filtering is enabled, none of the apps in the blocked list can access to the internet. If the application tries to connect to the internet, there will be a notification automatically on the desktop. The notification will provide you with information and provide a button for the action to be taken.
You can allow apps from notifications or continue to block them. Or you can make outbound settings for a specific IP address or port. This application also comes with a clean filter option. Where you can set the cleanup time and all unused and invalid apps will be removed from SimpleWall after a pre-configured time duration.
There are several import/export features available. You can export a list of applications as well as your previous configurations and then import them to a different or the same laptop/computer. The import/export function can help you maintain a wide range of configurations for various scenarios that you may face every day at home, school, campus or at work.
