Windows 8 is the first touch-focused Windows OS. Also features major user interface changes compared to its predecessor. Windows 8 is the latest variant of the latest version of Microsoft Windows after Windows 7, a series of operating systems created by Microsoft that are used on personal computers, including home or business computers, laptops, netbooks, tablet PCs and servers.
To expand the reach of Windows8 users, in addition to support for the x86 microprocessor architecture made by Intel and AMD, Windows8 is also compatible with the ARM microprocessor architecture which is widely used in tablets so that Windows 8 can be used on desktop PCs, laptops and even in devices that have low specifications such as netbooks, tablet or smartphone based on touchscreen and stylus.
Microsoft officially released Windows 8 on October 26, 2012 along with the launch of the first computer using Windows 8 Trial Version in the form of Consumer Preview and Release Preview.
On June 26, 2013, Microsoft also released a Trial version of Windows 8.1 previously known as Windows Blue, an upgrade for Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP. On October 18, 2013, Microsoft released Windows 8.1 as a free update to Windows 8 as a refinement and improvement of several previous features.
One of the very interesting features found in Windows 8 is Windows to Go which allows us to bring everything on our Laptop/PC into a Flash disk and use it on another computer.
More interestingly, Windows to Go can be run on all computers/laptops, even though the PC/computer to be used is still using the old-school version of the Windows OS. After installing Windows to Go, then all computer displays will be similar to the appearance of our own PC.
Indeed, when compared to previous versions of Windows (Windows XP, 7, and Vista), Windows 8 has a more modern and attractive appearance. Even so, maybe many of you are still hesitant to install Windows 8 on a desktop PC or laptop. You may be hesitant because you are not familiar with the new look that is given, or you still want to use the previous version of the OS.
In terms of appearance, Metro UI really steals the attention with its Live Tiles. You don't have to bother looking at a row of applications that sometimes tire your eyes and just put your favorite application on the Start screen.
In this version of Windows, the Start screen is enhanced with the presence of customization features to make it more personal. You can now resize Live Tiles and can choose a more varied design and background color.
