Spotify is a music streaming service that can be enjoyed streaming or downloaded directly to be listened to in offline mode. Spotify originated in Sweden and was released in October 2008. The service was developed in 2006 by Spotify AB in Stockholm, Sweden. The company was founded by Daniel Ek and Martin Lorentzon.
Spotify is a Swedish commercial streaming music, podcast and video service that provides digital rights management for protected content from record labels and media companies. It is available in most of America, Asia, Western Europe and Oceania. Music can be accessed or searched by artist, album, genre, playlist, or record label.
Spotify takes much of the credit for changing the face of the music landscape and paving the way for streaming services to take over the market. It now has some pretty fierce competition, but it's safe to say that it is still the top dog, and it's easy to see why.
With a huge music library, possibly the best recommendation algorithm, cross-platform support, and an accessible pricing plan, Spotify has a lot going for it. While the macOS app isn't quite as impressive, as it's essentially a wrapper around the web player, the recent visual redesign does give it a more modern look and feel.
Conceptually, this application allows users to access songs for free or paid. The service provides a variety of songs from the world's record labels, such as Sony, EMI, Warner Music, and Universal. Music can be searched with a search engine that includes the name of the artist, album, genre, playlist, or record label.
If the user is willing to pay, then he will not see ads and can download music so that it can be listened to offline. Users actually don't have to pay to enjoy millions of music from the "library", they can listen to music in the application for free.
However, users of the free version will encounter some limitations, such as not being able to play all the available songs. Later there will also be music from certain artists which is only available to paid subscribers. In addition, users will also be "disturbed" with several ads that appear every time.
