The Epson Stylus Photo T50 is a mid-priced inkjet printer that provides great text and image documents. The Stylus Photo T50 is worth about the same as Canon's PIXMA MP550 and PIXMA MX350. But unlike these printers, the T50 is not a multifunction device.
The lack of scanning and faxing capabilities reduces its effectiveness in an office environment, and the lack of a visual user interface makes using it without a computer difficult. When it comes to image publishing, however, the Epson Stylus Picture T50 performs much better than the Canon jack-of-all-trades.
The Epson Stylus Picture T50 is a very simple printer to set up and install. Only USB ports and a power outlet you'll find on the back panel — no Ethernet link offered. Unfortunately no sd card port to be found, neither PictBridge port nor, so you'll need to have a PC connected to publish with the Stylus Picture T50.
Configuration takes a few minutes using the packaged CD, which also prepares the publishing and maintenance software suite. Included in the mix is Epson software for direct-to-CD publishing when using the tray accessory. Tons of paper from the rear tray stand on the back of the Epson Stylus Picture T50. Only 120 sheets of plain A4 paper can be packed, so you will need to load the paper frequently if you regularly publish long documents.
The Epson Stylus Picture T50 prints at an average speed in the maximum quality setting. Generating an A4 print with the Best Image quality usually takes 5 minutes 25 seconds, while a 6x4 inch image is much faster at around 2 minutes 15 seconds.
Our test docs include black text and color charts published around a single web page, 17.2 seconds each in Standard quality. The text is clean with just a bleeding percentage when publishing a small personality.
The publication quality of the images is the ace of the Epson Stylus Picture T50. It may not have many unique features, but when it comes to full-color A4 publishing, we found the Stylus Picture T50 far better than its competitors.
Glossy and matte A4 prints are detailed without noticeable blur or burnout. The blacks are deep, and we didn't notice any bands in locations with complex ratings. Reds and purples are a little more vibrant than the other colors; this may be due to the dual magenta and cyan tanks.

The Epson Stylus Picture T50 is great for the price when it comes to full-color image prints. Both our 6x4in and A4 prints have great color information and precision. It performs at roughly the same level as a value-for-money printer for text recreation and publication speed.
Even though it lacks a scan function, PictBridge and an sd card port, it excels when it comes to publishing detailed photo jobs.
