3 Ways to Download Imagery on Google Earth Pro with High Resolution

There are several ways to get geographic images, one of which is with the Google Earth Pro application. Google Earth Pro is a premium version of the Google Earth application that displays a true-to-life image of the earth. Fortunately, this Google Earth Pro application can be downloaded for free.

With Google Earth Pro, you can see the location of a building, the topology of the area, changes in the shape of the area from time to time, and more. Interestingly, in this application, you can see conditions in several locations in the form of a panorama or 360 degrees in street view mode.
 

How to Download Imagery in Google Earth Pro


In this article, I will explain how to download imagery in Google Earth Pro in two ways. For more information, let's see the explanation below.

A. Download the Google Earth Pro Application


You can download the Google Earth Pro application Here. After the download is complete, please install the application on your PC.

B. How to Download Imagery on Google Earth Pro


Here is the first way to download imagery in Google Earth Pro:

1. When you open Google Earth Pro, an intro view will appear like this.

2. After that, the initial screen of Google Earth Pro will open like this.

3. Enter the name of the place you are looking for in the Search section, then click the Search button as indicated by the arrow in the image below.

4. The result will look.

5. You can adjust its direction and magnification through the features marked in the red box.

6. Next, to change the output latitude and longitude, click Tools >> Options.

7. In the Google Earth Options window, click Decimal Degrees as indicated by the arrows in the image below. Click the Apply button then OK.

8. Once adjusted, click the Add Placemark icon to mark the area to be imaged.

9. Place markers at the corners of the image boundaries. Here, we use 4 markers. Later, a New Placemark window will appear, enter its name, for example “1”. Well, you should save the latitude and longitude data in notepad so that it is easier to copy later. Then, click OK.

10. The new marker will look.

11. Repeat steps 8 and 9 for the other three markers.

12. To save the image, click File >> Save >> Save Image… or click the CTRL + ALT + S keys on the keyboard.

13. Select the resolution and then click the Save Image button as indicated by the arrow in the image.

14. The image you saved will look.

15. So, then, to get the area you want to take an image of, you can use third-party tools such as Global Mapper and ArcGis. Here, I will use Global Mapper.

16. Please download the Global Mapper application and install it on your PC.

17. After you open the Global Mapper, the intro will appear as shown in the picture. Click the Open Your Own Data Files button as indicated by the arrow in the image below.

18. Select the image from Google Earth Pro earlier then click the Open button.

19. After that, the Image Rectifier window will appear.

20. Enlarge the image area in Zoomed View. First, click the pixel coordinates for the first marker at the end (enlarge the marker area 1) and then enter the longitude and latitude values ​​as indicated by the blue boxes. Then, click the Add Point to List button as indicated by the arrow in the image below.

Enter the name of the ground control point like Point 1 then click OK.

21. You can copy the lattitude and longitude values ​​from a notepad that is complete with the value of each marker.

22. Click the pixel coordinates for marker 2 at the end (enlarge marker area 2) and then enter the longitude and latitude values. Then, click the Add Point to List button.

Enter the name of the ground control point like Point 2 then click OK.

23. Click the pixel coordinates for marker 3 at the end (enlarge marker area 3) and then enter the longitude and latitude values. Then, click the Add Point to List button.

Enter the name of the ground control point like Point 3 then click OK.

24. Click the pixel coordinates for marker 4 at the end (enlarge area of ​​marker 4) and then enter the longitude and latitude values. Then, click the Add Point to List button.

Enter the name of the ground control point like Point 4 then click OK.

25. Then, click the Select Projection button.

26. Click the Apply button.

27. Click the OK button.

28. After that in the Global Mapper window, click the File button >> Export Raster/Image Format.

29. In the Select Export Format window, select the desired file format such as JPG and then click OK.

30. Then, click OK to save the image.


C. Method II Download Image on Google Earth Pro


Compared to the first method, this second method is simpler, because you don't need to use a third party anymore. Why? You can download imagery in Google Earth Pro for the entire visible area on the map. Just zoom in on the map to get to the specific area you want. Here are the complete steps.

  • Locate the area where you want to download the image. Enlarge the map area to get a specific image as desired.
  • Click File >> Save >> Save Image… as indicated by the arrow in the image below or click CTRL + ALT + S on the keyboard.
  • Select the maximum resolution to produce a better image. Then, click the Save Image button as indicated by the arrow in the image below.
  • Click the Save button to save the image.
  • The results of the downloaded image will look like in the image below.
